Propylene Glycol (PG)
Propylene Glycol (PG) is a non toxic synthetic product that is produced when propylene oxide mixes with water. The resulting chemical reaction produces propylene glycol (PG). Often used as a stabiliser within the food industry, PG keeps food moist and fresh looking. PG is less viscous than VG making it a little easier to manage. PG is clear in appearance and completely tasteless and will not alter the taste in DIY mixes. An advantage of PG is that as it is a thinner liquid it will vaporise at a much lower temperature or wattage and produce a discreet vapour.
Considerations:
- Higher PG e-liquids have the potential to leak from tanks / devices because of the lower viscosity
- PG rich e-liquids give a “throat hit” sensation much like smoking (personal preference)
- Increased risk of dry hits inadvertently when used on RDA’s
